Q.1: What is the status of the courses offered by ISCOM? |
Ans.: ISCOM is conducting the following courses :
(a) PGPCS - Postgraduate Program in Corporate Studies (b) PRISM – Programme in Information Security Management (C) PGPGM – Postgraduate Programme in Golf Management (d) MBA - Master of Business Administration PGPCS is an autonomous 2 years full time program. The program is kept autonomous by choice to enable the students to keep pace with the industry requirements for which frequent change in curriculum is required. PRISM is an autonomous 1 year High End Programme in association with our knowledge partner MIEL E – Securities Pvt. Ltd. (Mumbai) A rigorous & challenging Programme which promises to prepare you for an enviable global career in the highly sought after domain of Information Security. Another Unique feature PGPGM is an autonomous full time Programme, the niche segment of Golf to conduct course in Golf Management in Association with Golf Specialist Elmwood College, St. Andrews, Scotland, U.K extending over 2 years including 6 months on the job training in Scotland. MBA course is being provided through Sikkim Manipal University which is recognized by DEC/UGC/AIU/Ministry of HRD and Govt of India. We are also offering dual program i.e. PGPCS + MBA. |
Q.2: Is the ISCOM affiliated to any University? |
Ans.: At present ISCOM is an authorized Learning Centre of SIKKIM MANIPAL UNIVERSITY to impart all its management programs through Distance Education. However, we are looking at the possibilities of affiliation with Pune University & also approval of AICTE.

Q.3: What is the difference between an MBA degree and a PGPCS? |
Ans.: PGPCS course is equivalent to MBA. In case of an MBA degree, it is offered by an university. We are maintaining our status as an independent autonomous institute. This will help us in a big way to grow faster and to ensure that, we maintain a dynamic and most relevant course curriculum, which helps us in getting great placements for our students, in the Corporate World.

Q.7: How do you allot specialization at the time of admissions? |
Ans.: We don’t allot Specialization at the time of Joining. The students can opt for their specialization after First Semester Exams. Before assigning of specialization, students are required to sit for a structural test to determine their aptitude in a specialization most suitable.

Q.8: Is there any limitation for applying to number of courses? |
Ans.: No. You can apply for all the three courses and give your order of preference. However, a student will be allowed to attend only on program at a time.

Q.9: How much is the importance given to the academic background? |
Ans.: An important basis for consideration for admission. The candidate should be Graduate from a recognized University. A student doing well in GD, PI and Essay Writing will have great opportunity.

Q.10: Is there any preferred education for any specialization? If so, why? |
Ans.: Yes. For example, IT background students are given preference for IT specialization. Similarly, commerce students are given preference in case of Finance. The ‘Operations Management’ specialization is meant for Engineers only in general. That is to ensure that, the subjects learnt in the graduate course remains a strong foundation and relevant to the specialization sought by the students in MBA, so that progressive learning is possible. The aim is to give suitable specialization according to the educational background, aptitude and attitude of the students, so that, they do not struggle at the time of examinations and campus placements. We are aware of the types of students sought by the companies for various functions. Therefore, all that, we try to do is to match the candidate to the specialization at the time of admission situation.

Q.11: Which specialization is the best? |
Ans.: Every specialization is good. The career growth offered by all the specializations is same. But, who reaches where and at what time frame depends upon the individual’s abilities and capabilities. One should clearly understand that, each individual is having his / her own capabilities and are destined to reach their own destination. The principles of equality do not apply in the corporate context. ‘Perform or Perish’ is the mantra there. Corporate World is a demanding place. Survival of the fittest is the slogan there.

Q.12: What is a good placement? |
Ans.: Generally a placement from a reputed company is considered a Good Placement.

Q.13: What are the cut-off percentile / percentage of MAT/CAT/any Entrance Exam? |
Ans.: Anyone who has appeared for any Entrance Exam and is hopeful of getting good percentile can submit their applications. The entrance examination carries a weight age of 30% only. Once the GD & PI is over, we will add the Entrance Exam scores and then short list the students. However, we seek only those students with a minimum of 50% track record in academics. The track record means, Second Class in 10th standard, 12th Standard and Graduation. If anyone is a Post Graduate with a Second class, additional weightage will be given.

Q.14: Do you accept any other score? |
Ans.: Yes, We accept scores of all the Entrance Exams.

Q.15: Is hostel accommodation available to all? |
Ans.: At present ISCOM is not having its own Hostel. However, accommodation is being outsourced and is made available to all the candidates. Provision has been made for separate hostels for ladies.

Q.16: Do we get educational loan from the banks? |
Ans.: Yes, ISCOM has a tie-up with Bank of Baroda for grant of Education Loan on all India branches. The supporting documents for the same are provided by ISCOM.

Q.17: What are our strengths and weaknesses? |
Ans.: Our strength is the infrastructure & pedagogy. We have modern, air-conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled campus. All the class rooms are provided with audio-visual aids like LCDs/amplifiers. We also have excellent collection of books in the Library. Our pedagogy includes case studies, role plays, seminars, workshops, International study Tour, Guest Lectures, Industrial Tour, Management games, Quiz etc. Food facility is available for students in subsidized rates. All facilities are available for students for a good and learning environment
